Amethyst has always been believed to possess some miraculous powers. Amethyst is found in abundance in Brazil where it occurs in volcanic rocks. It is also found and mined in South Korea. According to records, Lower Austria has the largest opencast vein. One of the largest producers of amethyst is Zambia. It is also found in some parts of Russia and India. Many localities of United States give out amethyst, some of them being, Texas, North Carolina, Lake Superior, Ontario and many other.
